McQueen Mermaids

what can i say great minds think alike
Sarah Burtons new S/S 2012 McQueen collection all about life underwater !

the fortuany type pleating and the detail is just sensational

coral dream

blistering barnacles
thundering tycoons

a little bit similar to the coral sample i made below that i wish to cover a slinky little mini dress with

i love this so much but you already guessed that
oh and i think kate would look great in one of these head pieces

below is a dress by Alexander McQueen featured in the Savage Beauty book

“My friend George and I were walking on the beach in Norfolk, and there were thousands of razor-clam shells. They were so beautiful, I thought I had to do something with them. So, we decided to make [a dress] out of them. . . . The shells had outlived their usefulness on the beach, so we put them to another use on a dress. Then Erin [O’Conner] came out and trashed the dress, so their usefulness was over once again. Kind of like fashion, really.”

right this is SO weird because i was walking along a beach in Norfolk during the summer and i had exactly the same idea (to make a dress from razor clams) so i collected lots and washed them and spray painted them silver at home for my mermaid project for my degree.... and i have witnesses.

and another sea creature like McQueen ensamble accompanied by one of my favourite pieces of music

under the sea is where i wanner be
